How to use Self AutoUpdate plugin option

Shield Security plugin will automatically update after 2 days once the update has been detected.  As some admins don't like this, we've added an option to let you control the automatic updates for the Shield plugin itself.

How to use Auto Update Plugin option

This option will need to be set to what you desire, under the main navigation menu > Dashboard section > Configuration > Plugin Defaults.

You may use Self AutoUpdate plugin option to control automatic updates for the Shield plugin. You can:

  • Let Shield decide when to automatically update
  • Completely disable automatic update for Shield
  • Automatically update Shield as soon as possible

Note: If you use 'Update Delay' feature along with ''Self AutoUpdate" plugin option, then, for example, 'As soon as possible' means "immediately following the delay".

So, if you have 'Update Delay' set to 2 days (48 hours), and 'As soon as possible' selected, Shield will auto update after 2 days (48 hours).

Or, 'Let the plugin decide' means the following...

Shield automatically updates after 2 days (48 hours) once the update has been detected.  So, 'Let the plugin decide' means 'auto update within 48 hours' but the time is not specified. It could happen any time between 1 to 48 hours.

But if there's a delay, it'll include the delay.

For example, if you have 'Update Delay' set to 2 days (48 hours), Shield will not update at all until this delay expires (48 hours). Once this expires, Shield will update in the next 48 hours.
