MainWP Extension for Shield Security for WordPress

MainWP is a WordPress multiple site management tool and an alternative to our iControlWP service.

MainWP uses extensions to provide additional functionality and integrate with 3rd-party services or plugins.

Shield Security provides an extension to MainWP so that you can see an overview of the security status for all your sites that use Shield Security.

How to get/activate Shield’s extension for MainWP

To make it as easy as possible to get started, we've integrated our MainWP extension directly into our ShieldPRO plugin so you don't need to install a separate plugin.

It is only available to sites running ShieldPRO, and is not enabled by-default - you'll need to switch-on the option on all sites, including the MainWP server.

The MainWP extension option is located under Shield > Tools > Integrations > MainWP (see screenshot below)

How Shield's MainWP Extension Will Appear

There are 2 primary pieces to the extension

  1. A new column entitled ‘Shield’ will appear on the Sites Overview table. This column displays the current status of Shield on each site and highlights whether any have been detected issues.
  2. A dedicated extension page will be available (MainWP > Extensions > Shield Security) that provides a centralized interface for viewing ShieldPRO status across all your connected WordPress sites. From this page, you can:
  • View Site Status. See a summary of Shield’s status on each site, including any issues that have been detected.
  • Access Scan Tool. Log in directly to the Shield's Scans for a detailed analysis of security issues on each site.
  • Update or Sync. Perform updates or syncs to ensure you have the latest Shield data across your sites.
  • Install/Activate Shield. Install or activate the Shield Security plugin on any child site from within the MainWP dashboard.
  • Manage Integration. Enable or disable the MainWP integration for specific sites as needed.
  • Check License. Conduct a ShieldPRO license check to verify its status.
