How to auto-filter of irrelevant files in the scan results

As an admin, if you’ve been alerted to an unrecognised file on your site, you want to know exactly what it is as soon as possible. The last thing you’ll want to discover after interrupting your work is that the particular PHP file in-question is empty.

You can use Auto-Filter Results option to automatically remove items from results that are irrelevant. An example of this is filtering out results when

  • the PHP file is completely empty
  • the PHP file isn’t completely empty but has only whitespace and comments (i.e. no executable code).

This option can be found under the Hack Guard module of the Shield plugin:

When this option is enabled, all of the above mentioned sorts of file results will be eliminated long before they’re reported to you.

Example: Option disabled

Empty unrecognised PHP file (0 bytes) will show in scan results:

If option is enabled, you wont see this file in scan results.

Or, malware file has executable code will show in scan results normally:
