How to enable Google Authenticator for your WordPress user account

Before you can perform the steps outlined here, you must ensure that the Google Authenticator system for your WordPress site is enabled.

Once the system has been enabled on the WordPress site, you can then turn on Google Authentication for your particular WordPress account from within the profile edit page (Users menu > Your Profile).

You will see a new option provided at the bottom of your Profile page as displayed in the screenshot below.

To enable Google Authenticator for your WordPress user account, please follow these steps:

  1. Install Google Authenticator app on your phone and use it to activate this login
  2. Scan the QR code with your phone and enter the code generated from the app into the box provided.

If it was successful, the QR code image will no longer be visible and you'll be left with the checkbox option to disable/remove the Google Authenticatior.

Important: If you've had Google Authenticator set for your profile in the past, you'll not be able to see this option on your Profile page, The reason for this is that Google Authenticator is already set and you can use it.
